Ultra-Rare 2005 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo Competition Package For Sale

One of only two examples built with the potent 1,000-horsepower Competition Package, this stunning 2005 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo is currently available for sale. Originally delivered new to a Florida collector in December 2005 via Prestige Imports Miami Beach, chassis 05-049 boasts an incredible history and a recent comprehensive mechanical refresh, positioning it as a highly sought-after collectible. Finished in striking Lizstick Red over a black leather interior with red accents, this S7 has covered just 1,100 miles and comes with extensive documentation.

The Saleen S7, first revealed to the public at the 2000 Monterey Historic Races, marked a significant milestone as the company’s inaugural vehicle designed and engineered entirely in-house. Founded by Steve Saleen in 1983, Saleen partnered with Hidden Creek Industries and the UK’s Ray Mallock Limited for the S7’s development, which included architecting its advanced steel space frame with honeycomb composite reinforcement and aluminum honeycomb impact-absorbing structures. The naturally aspirated S7 was succeeded in 2005 by the more powerful twin-turbocharged version, which was offered with the option of formidable 850 or 1,000 horsepower [saleen s7 competition package for sale].

Featuring autoclave-cured carbon-fiber bodywork styled by Phil Frank, the S7 showcases iconic design elements such as power-operated butterfly doors, an intake vent seamlessly integrated into the roofline, and functional gill-shaped ducting. The coveted Competition Package further enhances the car’s aerodynamic profile with an exposed carbon-fiber rear wing, a prominent front splitter, and a revised rear diffuser. These additions complement the model’s standard aerodynamic features like the integrated rear spoiler, side skirts, and an enveloped underbody, all designed to facilitate split-channel airflow for maximum downforce. This specific example is presented in a vibrant Lizstick Red, though minor chips are noted in the finish. A unique detail is the Steve Saleen signature located above the driver’s door.

The car rides on staggered-dimension forged alloy center-lock wheels, measuring 19” in diameter up front and 20” in diameter at the rear, secured by distinctive hexagonal nuts. Michelin Pilot Sport tires (275/35 front, 345/30 rear) were fitted in late 2023, ensuring optimal grip. Stopping power is robustly provided by black-painted aluminum Brembo calipers utilizing six pistons apiece, clamping down on unassisted slotted and ventilated discs that measure 15” up front and 14” at the rear.

Additional amenities include color-matched carpeting, brushed aluminum trim accents, air conditioning for comfort, power windows, and a modern Kenwood CD/DVD player with a convenient flip-out touchscreen display.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching sits before the driver. Instrumentation includes a centrally mounted 8k-rpm tachometer, a 240-mph speedometer, and essential gauges monitoring fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer displays a low 1,100 miles, with approximately 350 miles added under the current ownership, reflecting minimal use.

The heart of this beast is the mid-mounted 7.0-liter V8 engine, a Saleen design based on Ford’s Windsor small block. It features an aluminum block, CNC-machined aluminum cylinder heads, a forged billet steel crankshaft, dry-sump lubrication, dual radiators with electric cooling fans, and a distinctive stainless-steel quad-exit exhaust system. A significant mechanical refresh performed by Fountain Race Engines in Bradenton, Florida, in 2019 included meticulous work such as decking the block and installing custom Gibtec pistons, Carrillo connecting rods, Trend wrist pins, a custom billet camshaft, and custom roller lifters. The cylinder heads were also expertly rebuilt by Latozke Racing Heads during this project.

Further enhancements in 2020 by Heffner Performance in Sarasota, Florida, involved replacing the turbochargers, injectors, and wiring harness. Heffner also integrated a custom induction system featuring bespoke intercoolers, stainless-steel ducting, and TiAL wastegates. This project also saw the installation of a sophisticated MoTeC engine management system accommodating the use of E85 fuel, alongside the addition of modern drive-by-wire throttle control, traction control, and launch control for optimized performance. Recent maintenance in May 2023 included replacing the fuel pump, spark plugs, and battery.
