I loved taking a trip to this stylish desert city during this month as I got to experience warm desert sun and lots of vitamin D when most of the Northern Hemisphere was hunkered down for winter. I found that January was the perfect time to visit this picturesque mountain town, which had transformed into a snowy winter wonderland of powder-covered peaks, frosted pine trees, and cozy alpine charm. The winter evenings (which ranged from December to February) were just perfect for cozying up in log cabins by roaring fires and taking part in the awesome local events – there was the New Year’s Day Brunch at Montage Big Sky which was filled with seasonal dishes and a Mimosa cart, and the fun Winter Karaoke nights which took place every Friday at Waypoint.

I flew into Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), drove one hour south, and my winter stay lasted five days. That was enough to go skiing and explore the peaceful snowshoe and Nordic trails at Lone Mountain Ranch. I also explored the pastel-hued Art Deco Historic District, wandered through the cool and eclectic neighborhoods of Little Havana and Wynwood Walls, and soaked up the open-air dining vibes along lively Ocean Drive!

6. Hunting Island, South Carolina

There was also the awesome events which I found included the spirited Pelican Plunge at Hunting Island State Park on New Year’s Day, the festive Oyster Boogie 5K through historic downtown Beaufort, and the Tides to Table Restaurant Week which showcased Lowcountry cuisine across the Beaufort area.

7. Heavenly Mountain Resort, California

I flew into Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO), then drove an hour and stayed for a dreamy week. I went skiing while gazing at stunning views of Lake Tahoe on the Ridge and Skyline Trail, rode the Heavenly Gondola to the scenic observation deck, went tubing at Adventure Peak, and unwound with live music, drinks, and dining in Heavenly Village. I flew directly into Kona International Airport (KOA) and spent a week’s sunny vacation here. I was lucky enough to experience snorkeling with manta rays at Keauhou Bay and spend time relaxing on my favorite beach, Magic Sands.
