Dodge 2024 Electric Muscle Car: The Charger Daytona Leads the Charge

Dodge is ushering in a revolutionary chapter for muscle cars, unveiling the world’s first all-electric muscle car alongside its multi-energy counterpart: the completely redesigned Dodge Charger. This next-generation vehicle electrifies the legendary Charger nameplate, ensuring it continues its reign as the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car. Leading this charge is the Dodge 2024 Electric Muscle Car, the Charger Daytona Scat Pack, boasting 670 horsepower, an anticipated 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds, and an estimated quarter-mile completion in 11.5 seconds. The electrified lineup also features the capable 496-horsepower 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. Complementing the electric models, Dodge offers multi-energy powertrain options, including the 550-horsepower Charger SIXPACK H.O. powered by the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane High Output engine, and the 420-horsepower Charger SIXPACK S.O. utilizing the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane Standard Output engine. All models come standard with all-wheel drive, marking a significant shift in performance dynamics.

“The electrified 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack delivers Charger Hellcat Redeye levels of performance and announces its presence through the world’s first Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, while Hurricane engine-powered Dodge Charger SIXPACK models will give the Brotherhood of Muscle a gas option that produces better horsepower and torque numbers than the outgoing 5.7 and 6.4-liter HEMI® engines,” stated Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis. “The next generation of Dodge muscle has arrived.”

Production timelines indicate that the two-door coupe versions of the all-electric 2024 Charger Daytona Scat Pack and R/T will commence in mid-2024. All-electric four-door Daytona models are slated to begin production in the first quarter of 2025, coinciding with the production start for the gas-powered two-door Charger SIXPACK H.O. and four-door Charger SIXPACK S.O. models. The new Charger generation will be manufactured at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario. This launch aligns with the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, emphasizing electrification and efficiency to halve the company’s global carbon footprint by 2030 and achieve net carbon zero by 2038.

World’s First and Only Electric Muscle Car Powertrain

The all-new Dodge Charger introduces the first fully electric vehicle into the Dodge Brotherhood of Muscle, built upon the groundbreaking STLA Large platform. This highly flexible, BEV-native architecture supports extreme power outputs and allows for diverse suspension modules and powertrain cradles tailored to specific performance goals.

The Dodge 2024 Electric Muscle Car variants, the Charger Daytona models, feature a 400V propulsion system delivering performance comparable to a supercharged V-8 but with zero tailpipe emissions and instantaneous torque. Standard all-wheel drive is achieved through a high-voltage battery pack, a dual integrated charge module, and electric drive modules (EDMs) at both the front and rear. The front EDM incorporates a wheel-end disconnect to enhance range and efficiency, while the rear EDM includes a mechanical limited-slip differential for superior traction and performance. Each EDM utilizes a 3-in-1 architecture (inverter, gearbox, motor) producing 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 300 lb.-ft. of torque.

Central to its performance is a 100.5 kW installed capacity battery pack with a peak discharge rate of 550 kW, engineered to maximize acceleration over a quarter-mile. Its prismatic cell structure offers stability and enhanced thermal performance via a rigid casing, keeping temperatures lower during intense driving. The nickel cobalt aluminum battery chemistry provides high power density, essentially the electric equivalent of high-octane fuel.

This 400V system enables six distinct performance levels. The 2024 Charger Daytona R/T comes standard with a Direct Connection Stage 1 kit, boosting power by 40 hp for a total of 496 hp. The Daytona Scat Pack includes a standard Stage 2 kit, adding 80 hp for a remarkable 670 hp output. Future base Daytona models will require the purchase of Direct Connection Stage kits for performance upgrades.

Furthermore, Charger Daytona models incorporate an advanced, customizable regenerative braking system. Drivers can select from 0.1g, 0.2g, or 0.3g regeneration levels using paddle shifters, converting kinetic energy back into electricity during deceleration to extend the vehicle’s range.
