Joker no Kuni no Alice: Wonderful Wonder World Review – A Deep Dive into Character Routes and Copy-Paste Woes
“April Season” has descended upon our beloved wonderland. It’s essentially Wonderland trapped in a time loop set to April 1st, also known as April Fool’s Day. Despite the name “April Season,” it signifies that the entire wonderland experiences different seasons based on location. Spring thrives at the Heart Castle, autumn colors the Hatter Mansion, winter blankets the Clover Tower, and summer blazes at the Amusement Park. In this iteration, Alice can’t simply visit these areas unless the overall Wonderland season matches the area’s specific season. Adding another layer, a gigantic circus run by the Joker has appeared in the Door Forest, fitting for the “fool” of April Fool’s. Beyond the circus lies the Joker’s prison, which allegedly holds the truth about Alice and the world she originally came from. The best part, of course, is the return of Julius and Gowland!
This review delves into the various character routes and the overall experience of Joker No Kuni No Alice Wonderful Wonder World, offering insights for fans navigating this peculiar sequel.
Character Route Impressions in Wonderful Wonder World
Here’s a breakdown of the individual routes and how they played out:
Peter White
Fortunately, Alice is back to being affectionate towards Peter in this game (his worst treatment was definitely in Anniversary). They engage in various seasonal activities like an Easter egg roll and watching summer festival fireworks at the amusement park, even wearing Japanese yukatas. At the circus, Peter complains that the cute performing bunnies are stealing Alice’s attention, claiming he’ll even learn tricks in his bunny form for her sake. He offers to sleep with Alice when the Joker invades her dreams, and in the fall, they share ice cream like an intimate couple. Alice becomes extra sweet when Peter tells her that all he desires is her. Joker traps Alice in one of his dream scenarios within his prison, but Peter breaks through to rescue her. He sustains a large cut on his back while attempting to break through, and while Alice is naturally concerned, Peter assures her it will heal soon. She tells him to stop talking and strip so she can tend to his back wounds. (There’s a serious lack of naked Peter scenarios in the Alice series, honestly!)
More than his wounds, Peter is upset about Alice considering returning to her world, but Alice pats his head, reassuring him she’s not leaving. Then, Joker intervenes, throwing Alice into the prison again, blaming her for Lorina’s imprisonment, and pulls Lorina out to shoot her. While Alice knows this is just an illusion, seeing the figure of her sister killed before her is quite traumatizing.
Peter then rescues Alice and shoots Joker, seemingly killing him, but informs Alice that this is temporary and Joker cannot truly be killed anyway. After this, Peter agrees to listen to Alice and not randomly shoot everyone around her, leading to the two of them having a picnic with the Heart maids. He ends up claiming all the food Alice made herself, and the next day, Alice finds Peter working in his usual cold, efficient manner. This seems to pique her interest, and she stops him from shooting one of the Heart guards. As soon as he sees her, however, he reverts to his affectionate mode. After he finishes work, they visit the amusement park. Peter promises to do anything for her but requests a reward for his efforts, sneaking a kiss while they’re on the roller coaster. He then gets into a fight with Gowland, and they head home. On the way back, Peter transforms into his bunny form to comfort Alice, knowing she prefers cuddling him that way. That night, Alice sleeps in bed with Peter, and when she wakes up before him, she kisses his forehead. This awakens him, and he requests a kiss elsewhere. He then licks her fingers and declares he’ll give her the morning kiss himself. After kissing her, Peter welcomes her home, and Alice realizes it’s not that he’s forcing her to stay; by this point, she is here voluntarily. Peter’s route certainly had its sweet moments, but I suppose I was hoping for something… randier? It was appropriately rated Cero B, which left me wishing for the Cero B intensity seen in Clover. Nevertheless, it was nice to witness the sweet moments between Alice and Peter for a change. It really makes you wonder. Perhaps it’s like unlocking a whole new world of possibilities.
Ace
Ace is slightly less angsty here than in Clover, returning to his yandere and somewhat erotic self. They pick strawberries together for a pie, during which he tells her he won’t let her leave this world alive and professes his love to the point of madness. He gets jealous, wanting something special just for him, not the “same thing as everyone else.” Terrified by his pie-related threats, Alice decides to bake him a special pie, and he later catches her dancing while making it. Ace then becomes more interested in Alice than the pie, moving his face close to hers and kissing her passionately. It’s so intense she drops the pie, but thankfully Ace catches it. He then pushes Alice onto the counter, gets on top, and begins licking all the pie dough off her. Since Julius is back, the two of them often visit his room and harass him together (poor Julius). At the scene where Alice receives a new dress from Vivaldi, instead of complimenting it like Peter did, he starts stripping it off her, suggesting it would be better if she took it off completely.
They visit the amusement park together, and inside the haunted house, Ace treats it as his personal love shack, licking Alice’s neck. My favorite scene has to be when they visit the Clover Tower and Vivaldi tells Ace to “strip,” but she means his coat because she’s cold. He hilariously thinks she wants a strip show and responds that he doesn’t have interest in her that way. I laughed for a good 15 minutes because this confusion continued when Ace started acting inappropriately towards Alice under the kotatsu, and while Vivaldi left, Boris commented, “Hey guys, I’m still here.” The real revelation comes when Alice is in Joker’s prison and Ace shows up. Initially, he appears like a knight to rescue her, but then he shows up as a prison guard, similar to Joker. He asks Alice which persona she prefers: his RED knight self or his BLACK prison guard self. Alice replies that either one is simply Ace to her, but he asserts he is neither, and all his different selves have fallen in love with her.
Joker claims that Ace is just his chess piece, but later, in Alice’s bedroom, she tells Ace she doesn’t see him that way because it feels inhuman. In the end, they bother Julius again and hang out at his place like freeloading bums. Ace and Alice then drag Julius to the amusement park pool. Julius tells them to have fun on their own, so Ace jumps into the pool with Alice and proceeds to show off their affection. Sadly, before things can get too intense, the time changes to evening, and Julius tells them to leave or they’ll get sick. Ace refuses and pulls Julius into the pool with them. Julius gets angry and pushes Ace down into the water, telling him to drown, and they both then try drowning each other while Alice watches. Ace declares Alice isn’t exempt and pushes her head into the water too. The three of them laugh, sharing their happy, perhaps unconventional, ending.
Executioner End: Ace saves Alice from being executed by the circus loli & shota. He then tells Alice to become his “toy,” licking her ear and telling the children to leave so he can have bondage-themed intimate time with her. Alice cries, reflecting that she doesn’t truly know anything about Ace, even though she believed they were lovers. He kisses her, saying he will be the one to judge her. Another bad end occurs if Ace does not save Alice; the loli and shota end up throwing knives at her, killing her. In the Knight end, Ace actually saves her instead of acting threatening. It feels like Ace struggles to have a fully independent route, as his endings often involve him rambling about Alice not being a replacement, to which she responds with mild sarcasm. I also sympathize with Julius constantly being drawn into their antics, as I know he primarily cares about Alice. Although I preferred Ace in this game over Clover because he was less angsty and returned to his Anniversary self, he remains a captivating character. Hirakawa’s voice acting adds another layer to my love-hate relationship with him. It’s a fascinating exploration of personalities in this Joker No Kuni No Alice Wonderful Wonder World.
Tweedle Dee & Dum
It’s autumn at the Hatter Mansion, which means Halloween. Being children, Dee and Dum love dressing up and going trick-or-treating. They cause their usual mischief, like painting doodles on the Hatter Mansion walls and then forcing Alice to eat a gigantic ice cream sundae overflowing with vanilla, green tea, and strawberry scoops. In the winter season, they visit the Clover Tower, where Dee and Dum embrace her in their adult forms to warm her up. After dispatching some individuals, they apologize for leaving her alone, causing her to get cold. Alice realizes she’s developing feelings for them but believes they are simply being kind. They take her back to her room to warm her up by stripping her clothes and playfully using her as an ice cream cone (this is Cero B, right?).
Naturally, they end up having their usual romantic encounters, though this time it’s implied they do so while in their adult forms. They take a pleasant boat ride to view the flowers by the lake and end up sharing an intimate moment on the boat. They ask if she will accept them despite being “bad boys,” but she playfully retorts that they were never good boys to begin with. In the end, Dee and Dum break through Joker’s space in their adult forms and rescue Alice. Alice bandages their wounds afterward and starts crying, expressing her fear of losing them. When Joker captures Alice again while she’s staying at the Hatter Mansion, Blood is the one to save her. He shoots Joker and then hugs a crying Alice, telling her to cry with him and not back at the mansion, as it would upset the twins and Elliot.
In the twins’ ending, it’s Halloween again, and Dee and Dum declare they need to play some “adult pranks” just for Alice. This basically means they decide it’s time for some outdoor intimate activities. Unfortunately, since Alice won’t punish them for being bold, Elliot shows up and declares he’ll punish them instead. He tells them to leave and find somewhere else to engage in their activities. Afterward, they get Elliot drunk as he gives them relationship advice while Alice watches from behind a corner. They take another nice boat ride together in their Halloween costumes, and Dee and Dum, in child form, hug her, telling her they love her. I suppose I didn’t write extensively about this route, but most of Dee and Dum’s story involved them being “naughty” in their adult forms and seizing every opportunity to be intimate with Alice. Even when Elliot told them to stop in front of the gates, they told him to mind his own business. The purpose of this route was clearly to be exciting, and it succeeded.
Blood Dupre
I was quite disappointed with Blood’s route because the entire plot point about him being obsessed with Alice resembling his ex was completely absent from this game. While I wasn’t expecting the whole game to revolve around it, it was never mentioned, and it seemed like, as a result, he cared significantly less about Alice, causing her to feel lonely and become more openly affectionate towards him because of it. So, when Blood shows affection, she acts distant, but when he doesn’t seem to care, she becomes affectionate? It felt a bit inconsistent. Alice feels lonely because Blood is often busy killing things, so she barges into his room one morning to clean it, despite his instructions for no one to do so. She tries to naturally express that she missed him, and Blood is so taken aback by her affection that he hits his leg against the bed to confirm he’s not dreaming, eventually falling off completely. Don’t worry, I was just as surprised.
They attend the summer festival together at the amusement park, and while having tea and sweets, Blood is about to kiss her but suddenly pulls away. Alice is perplexed and keeps wondering why, though it doesn’t matter much when they return. After giving Elliot carrot sticks to keep him occupied, Blood starts kissing Alice passionately. He explains that because “her tongue is red from the candy apple,” she shouldn’t close her mouth, allowing him to kiss her deeply. While Alice is sleeping one night, Blood abducts her onto his Santa sled and takes her riding in her nightgown. Fortunately, he gives her a warm coat so she doesn’t freeze. He then cuddles her inside his coat and tells her to look at him, not the Aurora. They spend Christmas at a church, but Blood’s route seems to be a series of interruptions, as Nightmare arrives to disturb their time. Ace also interrupts them when they go to see some flowers near the Heart Castle.
After one of the circus events, they walk back together arm-in-arm, and Alice thinks they’re acting like lovers but assumes she’s just a “mistress” figure to Blood. Blood then becomes jealous when Alice has the dream with Nightmare and says he needs to remind her whose house she’s in, but Alice is like “You’re the only one I see,” and they become intimate in her bed. That scenario pretty well represents the entire route. Alice is openly affectionate towards Blood, but he’s so accustomed to her being distant that he’s caught off guard and completely thrown off.
In the ending, Blood saves her from Joker (twice). He injures his arm, and Alice tells him to stop talking and strip back in his room. She then cries, thinking that if his injury were worse, she might never have seen him again, etc. Nightmare tells Alice that Blood freed a criminal (Elliot) and says that by staying with him, she cannot save her sister (which is odd, since she’s already dead). It’s Halloween at the Hatter Mansion again, and at the party, Blood decides to take Alice to get drunk with her and be intimate. She tries to hint that she feels lonely without him, and it takes him a while, but he finally understands. He then kisses her, telling her that she should show off with him just as he shows off with her, and since he’s lonely without her, he tells her to admit she’s lonely without him. They end up making out on the couch and becoming intimate while getting drunk on some red wine. After this, Blood starts bringing Alice with him more often and even tells Vivaldi about their relationship, which reassures Alice that she’s more than just a mistress to him. He tells Alice to only clean in his room since it’s dangerous outside and she might be targeted… but reminds her there’s danger… IN HIS BED! Alice later has a dream where Ace appears, asking her to choose between killing Blood or Elliot or both since he’s an executioner. He asks Alice who to kill and who to save, but Alice decides she won’t let either of them go.
In the evening, Blood and Alice attend another summer festival at the amusement park, invited by Gowland. Here’s where a strange twist occurs. Afterward, when Alice is in bed with Elliot, he suddenly feels like she likes Blood and asks, “Do you like him? Were you lying to me?” Alice is confused and tells him she thinks Elliot is more special. It’s honestly confusing why he suddenly cares what Alice thinks of Blood. Curiously, unlike in Blood’s or the Twins’ routes, Blood doesn’t “rescue her a second time” from Joker’s prison in Elliot’s route, making this last scene feel even more out of place. I enjoyed the part where they got drunk at Clover Tower, but I feel like the rest of the epilogue was completely unnecessary. Overall, I felt like I was waiting for something interesting to happen in Blood’s route, but it never did. Perhaps they ran out of ideas for Blood, but it felt so lacking that even one of his ending CGs looked identical to a CG from Anniversary Alice. It was quite disappointing, as Blood usually had exciting and interesting routes in the other games, but here it felt rather absent. Or perhaps it’s because Alice was so openly affectionate towards him that the “spark” they normally have just wasn’t there. This is one of the many routes in joker no kuni no alice wonderful wonder world. It makes you reflect on what truly constitutes a wonderful wonder world.
Elliot March
I had hoped Joker’s game would be an improvement on Elliot’s route in Clover, and it was—until the end, where it felt like it came back to hit me with a vengeance. The route begins with him engaging in a persimmon-throwing battle with the twins. He and Alice then go on a water slide together at the amusement park, but when they encounter Gowland, Elliot pulls out his gun, and Alice is bewildered, telling him to calm down. Gowland reacts similarly, pointing out they’re at an amusement park and suggesting Elliot take his Blood loyalty elsewhere. Elliot gets upset that Alice didn’t choose his costume to wear, opting for Blood’s instead, but admits it looks good on her. They visit the winter season Clover Tower, where Elliot tells Alice to huddle closer to him for warmth. They go skiing and end up in a blizzard, finding a shack for shelter. Inside the shack, Alice sees a flash of the Joker prison with Elliot imprisoned, similar to his past. They cuddle by the fire in the shack to warm up, but unfortunately, the scene didn’t explore the potential intimate moments it could have.
After one of the circuses, Alice sees a vision of the past where Blood rescued Elliot from prison, but Elliot at the time told Blood to leave him alone. When she snaps out of it, Elliot finds her and hugs her, apologizing for leaving her alone to get lost. Alice tells him it’s okay because she loves him, and he blushes, saying he loves her too. At the autumn festival, Elliot starts falling asleep on Alice’s shoulder, so she grabs his ears, which wakes him up.
He asks her to let go, and she refuses because she finds him cute. Elliot responds that if she won’t let go, neither will he, and starts grabbing her chest and kissing her. At the end, when Elliot comes to save Alice from Joker, Joker calls Elliot an idiot because he was released from prison and now he’s back. Joker states that no matter how many times Elliot rescues her, he will always throw her back into the prison. Elliot retorts that he will then rescue her multiple times, and afterward, Alice tends to Elliot’s wounds in her room as usual. Later, they go out in the winter season, and Alice and Elliot drink some unusual drinks, causing Elliot to become extremely drunk. He then kisses Alice, forcing her to drink, and since it’s a strong drink, Alice immediately gets drunk as well. Elliot has already reserved a hotel room as planned, so they stay and have a drunken intimate encounter. Ace appears in Alice’s dream, asking her to choose between killing Blood or Elliot again.
Some days later, Blood, Elliot, and Alice go to the amusement park, invited by Gowland. This is where the questionable part comes in. Afterward, when Alice is in bed with Elliot, he suddenly feels like she likes Blood and asks, “Do you like him? Were you lying to me?” Alice is confused and tells him she thinks Elliot is more special. Why does he suddenly care what Alice thinks of Blood? Curiously enough, unlike in Blood’s or the Twins’ routes, Blood didn’t rescue her a second time from Joker’s prison in this route, leaving this final scene feeling even more out of place. I liked the drunken scene at Clover Tower, but I feel like the rest of the epilogue was completely unnecessary. This route in joker no kuni no alice wonderful wonder world had moments that made me question the meaning of a wonderful wonder world.
Boris Airay
At the amusement park, Pierce and Boris jump into Alice’s bed, telling her about summer and then start bickering with each other. Throughout the route, they often argue about whether fish or cheese is better. They set off some summer fireworks as Boris chases Pierce around with fireworks in his hand, as is typical. Boris then brings Alice to the top of a tree where they get a great view of the amusement park fireworks and, as a reward, asks Alice to kiss him. She agrees to kiss him on the cheek. They go on a date near Heart Castle, but Peter finds them and clings to Alice, telling Boris to leave, while Boris retorts that Peter should be the one leaving. Alice tells Peter to do his work, and he leaves, but Boris is still jealous, asking if she likes Peter. They go on a hot air balloon together, but Alice is terrified and crawls into the corner of the basket until Boris pulls her up. He then grabs her chest and asks if he’s the same “friend” to her as Peter is.
There’s a beanbag throwing event between the Amusement Park and Hatter factions, though Blood usually doesn’t participate because he’s bored. The prize is sweets, but Boris instead picks Alice up over his shoulders and runs off with her as his prize. He says that to him, she is his sweets and starts licking her in some room at the Hatter Mansion. He adds that he gets jealous when she looks at other guys like Blood instead of at him. Alice admits she gets jealous when Boris goes off to play games with the twins and ignores her. She tells him she wants him to only look at her all the time and confesses she might have a preference for felines.
Naturally, they end up being intimate in Hatter’s guest room. At the circus, Boris mentions that the idea of Elliot or Peter doing circus tricks is disgusting, and later, when he and Alice are walking around, he suggests they get handcuffs as a souvenir. After the Nightmare dream event, he starts licking her lips, saying he’ll give her something better to dream about, and they become intimate in her bed, as in every route. Boris admits he’s a cat, so he doesn’t get attached to things as much, but he’s truly attached to Alice. To rescue Alice from Joker’s prison, Boris uses his door power and opens a door directly to the prison. Joker complains that a “kitty” has no place here, but Boris retorts that he goes wherever he wants. Joker whips Boris until he starts bleeding, and Alice begs him to stop. Afterward, she tends to his wounds until she is abducted a second time, and Gowland comes to rescue her. Joker claims that killing him temporarily won’t make Alice “forget,” but Gowland declares he doesn’t care and kills Joker anyway.
In the epilogue, Boris and Alice watch some fireworks together and kiss. Afterward, Boris rescues Alice from Joker a third time and shoots Joker to death once more. They then ride a roller coaster at the amusement park, but Alice is upset, saying it was too fast for her. Boris offers to kiss all the places that hurt, but Alice declines. They then go on another hot air balloon ride where he asks what he is to Alice. She tells him he’s the reason she remains in Wonderland. Boris definitely had his cute moments, though he felt more cat-like in this game than any other. I think ever since Pierce entered the picture, he’s been keeping Boris’s natural instincts occupied. Boris’s route adds another layer to the characters in joker no kuni no alice wonderful wonder world, making the world feel more wonderful.
Pierce Villiers
I must say that I think Joker’s game has made me somewhat dislike Pierce. In Clover, I found him cute and creepy, but here he was mostly annoying and creepy. Alice tells Pierce not to bury dead bodies at the amusement park because it’s disgusting. When Alice goes out with Pierce and runs into Vivaldi, Vivaldi wants to engage in a more intimate interaction, but Pierce arrives with his “yuri flag crusher,” and Vivaldi freaks out because she hates mice. They go to a place where some koi fish flags (from Kodomo no Hi) are hanging near Heart Castle. Pierce asks if Alice loves him, and she says yes, so he declares he doesn’t care if anyone else hates him because Alice’s love is paramount. He then kisses her and asks if she will allow him to kiss her in other seasons too. When everyone takes a break with some bubble teas, Pierce thinks the tapioca balls are EGGS.
Pierce tries to give Blood cheese to repay him for something, but Blood doesn’t want it and instead looks at Alice, prompting Pierce to react possessively, saying “NOOO ALICE IS MINE NOOO.” After one of the circuses, they go goldfish scooping, and Pierce tries to use a taser to stop the fish from moving so he can catch them. When he’s in bed with her after the nightmare event, he tells her he’ll “swallow her whole without killing her.” They go ice skating together, and he complains that it’s cold and he wants to cling to Alice, even though it will make both of them fall. But then he becomes more assertive and starts pulling Alice, calling her “pathetic” but then saying she’s cute and kisses her.
So, on one hand, it’s charming that he’s kissing her, but then he keeps calling her pitiful and pathetic… it’s confusing. In the showdown with Joker, both Joker and Pierce reach an agreement that while a prison fits him, you can’t lock up a mouse. Alice heals his wounds as usual. In the end, Alice ends up being the Cheese Princess on Pierce’s float. When the park attendees say that Alice is cute, Pierce starts panicking. He says that everyone thinks she’s cute and they’re all going to want to kiss her, so he pulls out his knife, stating it’s better to be safe before she gets attacked. Alice tells him to put the knife away and warns him she will hate him if he doesn’t. Boris’s float drives by, and he expresses his wish that he could also be with Alice, causing Pierce to rage, saying that he only wants Alice to be complimented by him and no one else.
That night, Alice has a dream where Joker tells her that his role in this world is to be “killed,” however, unless Alice herself kills him, he won’t die. Just then, Pierce shows up and stabs him one more time. Later, she goes to pick him up from the Hatter Mansion after his job and instead ends up staying and drinking with Elliot. Pierce gets extremely drunk and falls asleep in her lap. When he wakes up, he asks Alice to kiss him and prove to him that she is “his.” As you can see, Pierce starts out innocent and cute but becomes progressively creepier. Every time he pulls out his knife and starts talking about dismembering people, it’s unsettling. Also, there were once again CGs depicting dead body parts, which is baffling for a Cero B game. Pierce’s jealousy really took over, and I guess when he’s jealous, he transforms into a yandere, potentially murderous, machine. He constantly babbles that he’s scared, but I think he’s the scary one. This route in joker no kuni no alice wonderful wonder world certainly took a dark turn.
Gray Ringmarc
Unlike Pierce’s route, which made me dislike him, Gray’s route actually made me like him even more. It also increased my appreciation for the “adults” at the Clover Tower, as sometimes it’s refreshing to see the more mature characters instead of all the hyper individuals who constantly overwhelm Alice (with the exception of Blood). In this route, he constantly argues with Julius because they clearly have similar personalities but aren’t as eager to confront each other, being two mature adults. Gray apparently has a pet goose he raised from a baby but now wants to set free. He still loves it so much that he decides to keep it a bit longer. Eventually, he and Alice bring it outside for it to fly away with its flock. Additionally, he feeds stray cats at the Clover Tower. They visit a museum with animals jumping in and out of paintings. While there, Gray’s lizard tattoo detaches from his neck and starts running around because, apparently, any animals in images within that museum come to life. Alice says she doesn’t dislike his little black lizard, and Gray confesses he’s in love with her and no longer sees her as a stranger.
In Gray’s friend event, they go ice fishing and pick up a baby seal, on which they place a bow identical to Alice’s. When she and Gray are on a date, some individuals interrupt and attack him, bringing out his old self. After he defeats them all, he loses self-control and pushes Alice against a wall, telling her he wants to be intimate with her. He acknowledges he’s unfit for Alice but, being capable, he will have her no matter what. After the Nightmare dream scene, Gray shows up in Alice’s room and pats her head, saying Nightmare told him to be by her side that night. He then hugs her, saying he had a nightmare that she disappeared and asks her to never leave his side as he kisses her. When they work on snow sculptures for the snow festival, Gray says he has no talent but his hands are talented in other ways, starting to kiss Alice’s neck.
The two of them are finally able to go on a date alone together, so they visit the amusement park pool. Sadly, a group of people there assume Gray and Alice are siblings, which upsets her. While they’re in the water, he asks Alice to cover up with a jacket so other guys don’t look at her in a bikini. In the ending, Gray comes to get Alice out of Joker’s prison, following a familiar pattern, and she bandages his chest wound afterward. The second time Alice is captured, Julius saves her and kills Joker, as usual. Later, while they’re in the moving pictures museum, Alice remarks that she doesn’t mind reptiles as much as she thought as she pets Gray’s little lizard. She then has a dream with Lorina, who tells Alice to look at her and then she sees Joker beside her. Lorina then tells Alice to never forget, and Joker adds that he’s always here waiting for her.
Suddenly, Alice is transported to door-land, where Nightmare tells her that the door calling out to her is not a “bad place.” It’s a place that Alice desires to go deep in her heart, but given her negative outlook, there’s a high chance it could be bad. When Alice opens the door, however, it leads her back to the Clover Tower since her final desire is to be with Gray. He gets a little jealous of the fact that she visited Julius, but Alice tells him that’s not possible as she pets the little lizard that’s detached from his neck. It turns out that lizard is physically “connected” to him, so as she starts rubbing it, Gray begins to… react strongly. The lizard functions similarly to a sensitive area. Alice realizes she can use this and keeps teasing the lizard until Gray is incredibly aroused and pushes her down on the bed. He tells her it’s payback, and they have an intimate encounter. Overall, I enjoyed Gray’s route. He was charming with all his animals, but when it came down to business, he was quite intense. It’s no wonder Alice often thinks, “I can’t believe such a perfect mature man is dating me,” and she becomes openly affectionate towards him quickly, as always (though I don’t blame her). This route was a highlight in joker no kuni no alice wonderful wonder world, offering a different flavor in the wonderful wonder world.
Julius Monrey
Julius is forced to look after a bunch of Gray’s flying squirrels in his room because otherwise they get lost in the spacious Clover Tower. He and Alice go to a hot spring together, specifically the mixed-gender one. Alice is incredibly happy to be with him, even if he can’t say “sweet or funny” things to her. In fact, she is deeply in love with Julius but thinks that he might dislike her, though she wishes the feelings were mutual. As they walk around in the autumn season, shuffling leaves and holding hands, Blood arrives and interrupts them. When they run into the twins, both Julius and Alice start blushing intensely, and even the twins notice. Ace comes by, interrupting as usual, jokingly saying he doesn’t mind Alice’s “sloppy seconds.” He often shows up and interrupts them at random times.
Julius and Alice go clothes shopping and end up buying presents for each other. They both get matching pajamas, but since the women’s version is sold out, Alice buys a larger size of the men’s shirt to wear like a nightgown. Alice improperly buttons her shirt, so Julius tells her he’ll fix it as he starts unbuttoning and rebuttoning it. He tells Alice she needs to be more careful around him because something like “this” will happen as he grabs and kisses her. He tells her he loves her and that she should never let any other guy do something like this. He slips his hand into her shirt but then says, “I won’t go any further… yet.” After the Nightmare dream event, Julius is there, patting her head, asking her if she preferred Nightmare to do this instead. He then tells her to come sleep in his room instead, but Alice is hesitant, so Julius climbs into her bed instead.
Alice kisses him, and he responds, “You better face the consequences of this,” and she replies, “Yeah, I know, but it’s okay if it’s you.” Unfortunately, the provided text cuts off at the end of Julius’s section, so a full conclusion for his route based only on the original text is not possible. However, the themes of his route seem to revolve around his stoic nature contrasting with Alice’s open affection, the awkwardness they face from others, and moments of hidden intensity beneath his reserved exterior. The brief snippets suggest a route where Alice helps Julius open up, leading to sweet and intimate moments. It seems Julius, despite his reluctance, is deeply affected by Alice.
Nightmare Gottschalk
Nightmare is constantly freezing and complaining about it. He never wants to get out of bed until Alice drags him out. He sleeps with a bunch of Gray’s cats for extra warmth. He finally starts working when he has hot coffee and warm cats sitting around him. Unfortunately, that makes him too comfortable, and he starts dozing off. When Alice suggests removing the cats, Gray gets upset because he’s too busy appreciating them. Because Gray throws away his Mont Blanc cake, Nightmare rages, so Alice takes him to a cake store to buy a new one. While there, some girl accidentally bumps into him, and he catches her from falling. Alice sees this and gets extremely jealous because he’s so gentlemanly, whereas normally in front of her, he acts like an immature child.
They visit the autumn season at the Hatter Mansion and run into Blood. He invites Nightmare and Alice to visit anytime and even gives them a bottle of wine. Alice is confused about why Blood is being nice, but afterward, Nightmare tells her that everyone in this world fears him. She complains that she wishes he was more like he was before he came out of the dream world and started working at the Clover Tower. Nightmare complains that she used to be a lot nicer to him as well. He then tells her that she’s a lot nicer to Julius than she is to him. Alice tries to get him to go to the hospital for allergy medicine because the spring season makes him sneeze uncontrollably. She lies to him, saying she has allergies too, and tricks him into going to the hospital with her. When they get the medicine, she feels guilty because he tells her that while he hates going to the hospital, if it’s for her, that’s another story. So, to get him to take the medicine, Alice puts it in her mouth then kisses him, transferring it to him. Nightmare is shocked and embarrassed, saying he can’t believe she’d do such a naughty thing! It’s like the developers read my mind because I was totally thinking about this while the scene was playing.
While they rescue an injured cat from a tree, Alice hears random people around saying, “Why is Nightmare here? Why isn’t he back at his tower?” Alice gets annoyed, questioning why him leaving the tower is a problem. They get a photo taken together after the circus, sitting on a couch holding stuffed animals and cats. One of the cats wears an eye patch like Nightmare, while another wears an eye patch and a Joker hat.
While I was hoping for something interesting following the Nightmare dream scene, sadly, it was a copy-paste of Gray’s and Julius’s scenes, where this time Nightmare was the one patting her head beside her bed. He says that he’s jealous of Joker being in her dreams because until now, he was the only one who could intrude into them. He says he loves her and asks her never to leave his side. Alice jokingly suggests that he should “order her around” because he always says he’s “Mr. Important.” Nightmare hesitates, but Alice thinks to herself, “Go ahead and order me, big guy, I don’t mind.” Nightmare then tells her never to leave him, and they have an intimate encounter.
They go to a park where they have a water gun fight with some younger characters. They come back soaking wet and get yelled at by Gray, saying they could catch a cold since it’s winter near the tower. The two of them end up warming up in Nightmare’s room as they strip off each other’s clothes. In the ending, Nightmare comes to Joker’s prison, and Joker expresses his upset that Alice loves Nightmare over him since they are “both the same.” Afterward, she goes to tend to his wounds, but he just brings them into their dream space, and all his wounds are gone. It turns out he’s just hiding them, as Alice pokes his “wounded area,” and he starts screaming in pain. He tells her that in this space, he will heal faster, but to help him take his mind off the pain, he asks for a “stronger” feeling from Alice as he kisses her.
When Alice visits Peter at Heart Castle, he tells her that he, Joker, and Nightmare are all the same, trying to brainwash Alice into staying in Wonderland. Alice says it’s okay because she loves Nightmare as she returns to the Clover Tower. She and Nightmare then go to the Hatter Mansion at Blood’s invitation for some food at his banquet. Suddenly, Nightmare gets angry at some random guy who has inappropriate thoughts about Alice, so he threatens him and starts manipulating his mind. Eventually, Blood shows up to break up the fight, and they all go have some tea outside. Afterward, Nightmare asks Alice if she’s scared of him, and she casually replies that she isn’t and kisses him. He then reacts in a flustered manner, saying he wants to kiss her too but always needs preparation and can’t do it as “naturally” as Alice would like. Later, Alice is in bed with Nightmare and his cats, and he says that having her there makes it even warmer. He kisses her, but she tells him that they will only go further after they’ve shooed all the kitties away. I think this route really helped bring out a different image for Nightmare. He always seemed like this huge dork who’s coughing up blood and complaining that he doesn’t want to work… but here, when things get serious, he steps up. Seeing him manipulate that guy’s mind at Blood’s mansion was such a good scene that I really wished we got to see more of it. It’s like this hidden personality of Nightmare that I never knew existed (though alternatively, it can be seen as some questionable out-of-character writing on the developer’s part). The complexities of characters like Nightmare make joker no kuni no alice wonderful wonder world a truly unique world. For those interested in a wonderful wonder world experience, navigating these routes is key.
Vivaldi & Gowland
Vivaldi and Gowland unfortunately were relegated to mostly having friend events and friend endings. Their endings are identical, where they basically go to the circus together because Joker is still alive. Gowland’s friend scenes include him selling ice cream and then being attacked by rabid ice cream-craving penguins. For Vivaldi, they make stuffed animals together for Hinamatsuri (Japanese Doll Festival). After they finish making the dolls, they put on their kimonos and walk around in what looks more like Japan than Wonderland. Vivaldi gets angry that the cherry trees aren’t blooming and wants to chop them down, but Alice tells her to be patient, and the trees finally start blooming.
Gowland Stay End: They basically go to the repetitive circus scene, and he says he’s glad that he was able to enjoy the circus with her. I truly regret wasting my time on this ending, seeing how it disrupted my Pierce route, forcing me to replay about 70 turns.
Other Ends
Omukae End: Alice goes into the Door Forest, and the circus isn’t there. Instead, Peter comes to get her, asking her to come with him.
Blood & Vivaldi End: A significant copy-paste from Vivaldi’s ending, except while Vivaldi and Alice are watching the circus, Blood interrupts their close time, sits down, and watches with them. Interestingly, while Vivaldi and Alice admire the cute animals, Blood ends up practically falling asleep.
Rose Garden End: Just like in every other game, it’s a three-person intimate scene involving Vivaldi. This time, however, it’s a complete copy-paste from Vivaldi’s and Vivaldi & Blood’s endings, but with a bizarre twist: Alice ends up getting entangled by rose tentacles on top of it, while Blood and Vivaldi act as if she’s a lollipop. This ending is truly something else in the joker no kuni no alice wonderful wonder world.
Gowland & Elliot End: Gowland tells Alice to forgive Elliot, as he doesn’t want to look like a failure in front of her by revealing his past. Elliot then shows up, angry at Gowland for hitting on Alice. The three of them watch the final circus as Elliot grabs onto Alice to show Gowland that she belongs to him.
Joker
Sadly, Joker didn’t really have a proper route, and all he did was feature in the general circus scenes and force you to play stupid mini-games with him to change the season.
Joker’s Prison End: Alice is back in Joker’s prison, where she sees Lorina, but when she runs to her, Lorina’s figure transforms into Alice. The scene then switches to Joker about to shoot Lorina, but instead, he changes into Alice’s form, making it look like she is shooting her own sister. Joker tells Alice that basically no one can enter his prison unless they admit they are guilty of a crime. He knows that Alice feels guilt over abandoning her sister, which is why she constantly throws herself subconsciously into Joker’s prison. Even when she tries to open the door to the truth, she is too terrified to find out that her sister has died back in the real world… so she is trapped in his prison forever.
Circus End: Alice runs into the Joker, who acts like a jerk, and she’s surprised to see him, thinking he was dead. He dismisses it, saying he’s not dead, nor is the one she killed. Joker then jokes that the entire prison experience was just part of his show, and Alice gets angry and slaps him. Suddenly, Alice finds herself swinging on a circus swing with Joker, and he tells her to stop being so stiff and have fun. He says that the circus has ended and she’s no longer a “guest.” While they swing, the younger characters who kill her in the bad ends tell her that it’s been fun and that they don’t hate her. Alice asks if it’s because she’s an outsider that they like her, but Joker tells her it’s because she’s a prisoner who isn’t actually evil. Joker then admits that he likes her as well and says that everyone, including himself, wants to capture her. He kisses her on the cheek as a “parting gift.” And so Alice finds herself sitting in the audience seat as Joker concludes the final circus.

Copy Pasta no Kuni no Alice.
I originally started this game on the PSP, but because of the absurd restrictions and lack of save slots, I switched to the PC version thanks to a friend. The game has 198 turns, but you only need 108 affection to get a character’s ending. This means if you’re trying to get another ending efficiently within one route, you have to stop visiting the character and count turns based on which scenes you’ve seen, hoping you don’t exceed 108 affection. This became incredibly frustrating, but thankfully, being on the PC version allowed me to salvage these routes from halfway through the game instead of being forced to start over.
The scenario was so repetitive, I can’t even. As you can see from the images above, not only was the scenario copied and pasted, but so were the CGs. In every route, there was a scene where Alice would have a dream about Nightmare, wake up with the character whose route you are on in bed, he’d be jealous, and they would proceed to have an intimate encounter. I don’t necessarily mind; sometimes it was appealing, but I would have really appreciated something different for once. I know this is a fandisk, but I would prefer them not to fill it with so many repeated scenarios (which, by the way, the game sometimes refused to let me skip) because it makes it more irritating. This CG isn’t the only culprit—there’s even a CG of Blood and Alice that looks identical to one from Anniversary. How is that possible?!
Many people told me Joker was better than Clover, but I personally thought Clover was much superior. It didn’t suffer from this much copy-pasta, and I was able to experience three to four characters’ friendship scenes in one playthrough. In this game? Only one friendship event allowed per route. It’s disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, I love the characters; QuinRose can do whatever they want with them, and I’ll still love them… but I would really appreciate it if they could put some thought into it. Or, if they don’t put thought into it, remove this frustrating system and at least let me enjoy a straightforward visual novel! Well, I guess I’m not the only one who felt this way since I heard Omochabako is actually a straightforward VN, so they aren’t misleading us this time. At least, I hope not. I guess I’ll find out when I get to it!
My favorite routes were Ace, the Twins, Boris, and everyone in the Clover Tower. Blood’s felt somewhat anti-climactic, and Elliot’s was going well until the end, where it took a strange detour. Peter’s was sweet, but I was hoping for more intensity. As for Pierce… let’s just say I no longer regret him not being in Diamond no Kuni. Play order doesn’t significantly matter, but I think it would be best to save Nightmare and Joker’s endings (especially the Circus End) for last. For those attempting this game on the PSP, may the force be with you.
This extensive review covers my personal experience and impressions of joker no kuni no alice wonderful wonder world. While it has its flaws, particularly the repetitive content, the strong character interactions in certain routes offer moments that can truly feel like a wonderful wonder world. For fans of the series, it provides further exploration of beloved characters, despite its frustrating gameplay mechanics and occasional missteps in writing. Unlocking the full potential of this world might require patience, but the journey through Wonderland remains intriguing. Interested in other wonderful or strange worlds? You might be surprised by what you find.
